What is the Best Way to Remove Carbon from Engine Parts?

Combustion of fuel in the engine causes the formation of hardened black soot on the parts of the engine. These parts include the cylinder head, piston, valves, and cylinder head. 2.Using hard metal for cleaning

Another method used for carbon cleaning is inserting the metal particles or hard enough pieces such as metal chains into the cylinders through the holes of spark plugs. This process is performed while running the engine and deposits are removed by this method. This method is found impracticable because there are two reasons.

  1. The metal particles usually melt due to the intense heat, if the particles are not hard enough.
  2. If the particles are too hard, they can damage the engine, if jammed between moving parts.
  3. Before the engine gets enough speed, many of the metal particles roll out through the valves. This will result in the wasting of particles.

3.Grinding the deposits

Due to the impracticability of the metal insertion method, another method is also used. This method involves the cleaning of carbon from the engine blown by removing the head and grinding off the deposits from the pistons and valves. This method is time taking and can be expensive.
